In chapter 4 of the novel Call of the Wild by Jack London, Buck specifically states that "he is not homesick!"

Tell me about a time you were away from your house for an extended period of time.  Were you homesick or were you not homesick?  Explain.

  1. I was never homesick because I have never been away from home for a long period of time that would have me really miss my parents. I have been to a couple of camps for a couple of days but I have never really missed my parents because I wasnt home. I don't find that I missed people that easily but let's say that I was away from home for a couple of weeks then yes maybe I wouldn't be homesick but I don't remember ever being that homesick.

  2. I was never homesick because I am use to not seeing my parents for a week or two. Since my parents are spit up I go to one house for a week then the other, in the summer it is two weeks so I have been used to being away from my parents for some time. But I have never been away from my parents for more than three weeks so if it was more than that, I would probably get home sick. But I don't see myself going anywhere for that long right now. In the future I do see myself going around the world exploring and discovering new things for a long period of time, I am looking forward to that but at the same time I will be probably get home sick eventually.

  3. I have never been homesick, been on many vacations, but I have never had the feeling of missing my home. I have moved a lot all my life, I think that affected my affection for my home, during those time periods. I have missed objects, for example my phone, xbox, etc, but never the houses I have lived in. The only memory I have of missing my home is when my family and myself took a trip to Europe, and when we arrived back here in Montreal I was glad to see my bed but was not because I would have liked to stay in Europe for a longer period of time. -Billy

  4. When my family and I went to Cuba in 2015, I had a great time. We played in the pools, enjoyed the beach, the sun. We were there for a week and half way through, I really started to miss home. Right before we left for vacation, I got a really fun videogame on PS3. So the whole vacation I was thinking about that game. Not only that, I was really missing my bed. The bed that I had in Cuba had a really weird smell and the bed was uncomfortable. Anyway, when I got home I had the best sleep ever.

  6. In the summer of 2015 I went to a place in Ontario called "Sandbanks". This place was a beach and I wasn't too happy that I had to go with my cousins (They're 12,8 and 3). I got homesick as soon as we left the driveway. When we got to the beach finally (after going through 4 hours of suffering in the car ride with my cousins), I hid from everyone as much as I could, but eventually my Aunt forced me to swim. I just kept track of time from there on since I missed the indoors of my house.

  7. A couple weeks ago I went to New York to visit my godparents. That short vacation was the worst experience I've ever had. The worst part was the drive. We drove 9 hours going there and 8 coming back the ride was the most boring/tiring drive I've ever taken. And when I came out of the car I couldn't feel my legs.

  8. When I went to Australia I loved it so much. On the plane from here to Vancouver I thought it was so fun and they had really cool LED lights so the plane was like blue and purple on the inside, and I just thought that was awesome. I enjoyed the ride from Vancouver to Australia, until I fell asleep and later woke up. I felt very uncomfortable and very annoyed. The lady on the plane gave me a different breakfast than the one I asked for and some kid was kicking my seat and at that moment I wished to just be at home so much. Once we landed and gotten to my aunts house, I felt all refreshed and as if that was my home.

  9. When I go to Toronto every summer to see carnival I never get home sick. When I was younger and my friends invited me for the sleepover I would always cry to go home because I would be homesick, but as I got older I was able to sleep at a friends house. Other than that I don't think I've ever been homesick. Sometimes when Im a friends house for more than the weekend I get bed sick. Its when I miss my bed.

  10. I've never been homesick because I haven't really been away from my house for a long period of time. The longest I've been away from my parents was two days because of when I slept over at my best friends house and it never bothered me because I was with my friend and it was fun. The longest time I've been away from home though was for about 1 week but it was with my familly when we went to Niagara Falls three years ago. I didn't get homesick then either probably because I was having so much fun and I was with my familly. I'm not really a person who gets homesick because I don't mind not always being at home.

  13. I have been homesick before. It was when my grandparents brought me and my brother to Plattsburgh with them for a week. We had fun but I grew homesick over a few days because I had no friends there and missed my mom and dad a lot.

  14. When I go on vacation, I never get homesick. I only get bed sick. When I go on vacation, it is usually always at the same place which is at Myrtle Beach. I can never sleep in another person's bed. Whenever I have sleepover with my friends or I sleep over my cousins house, I always wake up in the middle night and then I can't go back to sleep. My bed is the only place I can really sleep properly.

  15. I usually never get homesick, but when I do it's because I miss my comfortable bed and my dog. In grade 6, for our grad trip we went camping. It was my first time ever camping. I wasn't really homesick because I got distracted because of all the fun things we were doing. The only times when I felt homesick was when we would go to sleep, because I would miss my bed so much.

  16. The last time I was home sick was when I was on my second to last day in Virginia because I missed my own bed, I missed my dog and I missed friends. At that point my family has gone to the beach 10 times in the last 12 days and when we went it lasted all day which can really suck when there are no big waves in the ocean and you have nothing to do.

  19. Once, I went to Mexico with my family for 2 weeks and everything was great. The food, entertainment, etc. My family was having a blast, including me!! But after around 10-11 days, I wanted to go back to the old, relaxing style at my house. I was picturing different parts of my house in my head and picturing me there at that moment. Of course, there are some places that I would love to stay longer, even more than 2 weeks. But sometimes, you need your comfortable home to satisfy yourself. THANK YOU!!!

  20. I time that I did feel homesick was about two years ago when I was in Florida,we spent two weeks there and I was really feeling uncomfortable and I just wanted to sleep in my bed so badly but I couldn't obviously.I just wanted to go back to my relaxing routine that I have in my house so that time I really felt homesick.
