In the short story "To Build a Fire," by Jack London, the man is on a course to discover gold.  However, he develops a severe case of frostbite!

Tell me about a goal you've had in the past, or have in the future.  What is something that can hold you back from achieving this goal? Explain.

  1. One of my short term goals is to do good in the 3rd term. One of the things holding me back is the amount of time I have. I get home around 3 o'clock and study, do homework for minimum an hour. I usually eat at around 7\8, and i don't usually finishing studying till around that time. Im lucky to have many nice teacher that give my class quite a long amount of time to do all the work, but I have to be very careful with planning my time properly. -Billy

  2. One of my goals I wish to complete is to break my bad habit of procrastinating. I usually get all my work done, but sometimes I get it done the night before. I want to feel more organized and not have as much stress on me. I've started this year and I've made progress but it's not close to being completed. One thing that can stop me from reaching my goal are other events. If I accidently forget I had it do and have to go to family dinner might stop me from doing my work.

  3. One of my goals I wish to complete is to read a lot more. My vocabulary isn't as good as I wish and really want to read, but I can't always get into a book. I am currently reading a great book, but I have a lot of homework or projects to do, so I don't have much time to spend reading on week days and most of the time on weekends also. I hope in the future I will start to enjoy reading more and to not force myself to read, like I usually do. I force myself to read every night, but most of the time I spend it on my phone. But the main problem is that I get way to distracted.

  4. Just like Phoebe said... I want to stop procrastinating. It takes me so long to do homework at night because I alway do everything but what I`m actually suppose to be doing... Like playing with my dogs, playing with a puck and stick in the house, going on my phone and Ipad. So in the end I`m the one that has to deal with the stress and how late I go to bed. On top of that I practically have hockey every single day of the week so I have to go to that and eat supper! So I seriously want to work on that!

  5. One of my goals is to start eating healthier. My brother always tells me to stop eating so much junk food but it's really hard when my parents are bringing junk food in the house. Once, I set this goal in my head and i haven't been eating junk for a while, and then I saw junk food and started eating it. When I am older, I want to be healthy. I do not want to start eating healthy when I'm older. I have a lot of other goals but to me, health is the most important.

  6. The biggest goal for me is to study more. Gosh I hate that I get so lazy when it comes to studying! Even if I do get the chance to study, it's usually 15 minutes before bed. I always tell myself to study at a certain time, then end up studying way after. This laziness that I have taken with me is really keeping my marks from being really high. I just hope that this laziness leaves me. I know it'll happen one day ;)

  7. The biggest goal for me is to actually study and do my homework properly. I'm very apathetic about my work and it is always half fast complete. I'm very lackadaisical when it comes to completing my homework, but ironically I care about my grades. The only two classes I can get away with without studying and still do very well in is math and science, but I have to start having some effort into my work if I want to actually find a career in the future.

One of my goals like most of the others is to study more,because every time I get home I usually watch TV,and I usually like to study later at night ,and there is always a hockey game on every other day.So when the first period is over I say that I will study but I don't I continue watching the rest of the hockey.Then its like 10pm and I say I should have really studied.

  9. One of my goals is to have a better sleeping pattern. I go to bed so late at night which leaves me tired in the morning and I don't have enough energy. I usually go to bed like at 1 o'clock or even 2 sometimes and only get 4-5 hours of sleep which isn't good. When it was March break, the latest I went to bed was like 4 o'clock. Whenever I try to sleep early it's impossible for me because I'm too used to going to sleep late. I usually watch movies, YouTube videos or play video games until I get tired. I'm hoping this will change because getting a lot of sleep is important but it's gonna be really hard for me because of how used to it I am.

  11. My goal for the future is to be a better musician than I am now. I really like making music but I find that my social life's holding me back from working harder. I'm always talking to someone or creating problems. I'd like to isolate myself completely from everyone (ignore everyone carelessly while working), but they always say something I can't ignore and that steers me away from working. So it's hard to work on music with an active social life.

  12. One of my goals is to study and read a lot more but I am always getting distracted and I lose focus on what I am reading and I can never finish a book. I normally I start a book and I never finish it because I get bored and start doing something else or I will just try to start a new book. I have been being able to study longer stay focus without getting distracted

  13. My future goal for right now would to make the rugby team I love the sport and if I want to be on the sprit I will need to work hard.the sport is a tough sport and I will need to put maximum effort so I can be on the team I really want to be on it,so I will be trying my best to make it.

My future goal is to get a job!! the reason why is because, I think I need to start having serious responsibility's. off course not the job would be like babysitting, life guarding, working at the pool, or even volunteering at the hospital! I also need a job to change my habits like spending money on things I know I don't need !! things I'm never going to use...I want to learn how to spend money because that is an important skill you need to have in life.
    I don't think anything is really holding me back on this besides my lassie character... but I do know that if I need something that " I need" I am not going to be lassie. and I'm not a lassie person, in general.
