Blog 10 - Monday, October 20, 2014

There will only be one (1) blog this week (No School Friday!)

This week is Digital Citizenship Week.

An important part of my English class is to make you aware of what you post on-line and what it means to be a good digital citizen.  Being a good digital citizen includes:
- being aware of your digital footprints;
- demonstrating safe and respectful online etiquette;
- not cyberbullying, sexting, or posting inappropriate photos and/or videos,
- making important decisions about what to post to social media sites; and,
- not downloading or uploading inappropriate content

For this blog, I would like you to CREATE an important Digital Citizenship message using MEMES!

A meme in a generic message about a behaviour that is passed around on-line.

Using memegenerator.net or makeameme.org you will have to create a MEME about being a GOOD Digital Citizen.  You could share or e-mail me (gkatz@lbpearson.ca) the meme and then post your explanation about the meme on the blog site.

Have Fun!

  1. On line bullying is a very mean and hurtful thing to do because you are hurting people around you, none has the right to bullying but maybe there bullying because they've been bullied and there taken there anger out on someone online because no one can see who's behind the screen, bullying can lead to suicidal or cutting yourself or even drugs, cyber bullying is something so hurt full it can rip you to pieces, you have to be mind full of what you put on line, if you take a picture of some one and right a mean comment on it that is consider bullying, you just have to be mind full of what you post on the internet because once its online it never comes down

  2. Cyber-bullying is a terrible thing that can hurt the victim in plenty of ways. It is mostly done so the bully can have fun and be a mean person. I think it's just an awful thing to do. This can happen a lot if these bullies parents don't care about what they are doing online and never take interests in them. A year or so ago my friend was on Facebook and he accepted a friend request from someone he sort of knew but not really. This person ended up sending him all these hate messages and it got to the point where even after my friend blocked him he was getting his friends to send mean messages. So, my friends parents spoke to the other parents and they had no clue what had been going on and the bully ended up getting into a lot of trouble. So, if you think about writing something harsh on someone else's page or wall, think again. Someone else might screenshot it or show plenty of people or they will probably show their parents. Even if a certain someone is mean to you, you don't know what is going on in their lives at home, so be nice and respectful on the internet and be cautious as well.

  3. Some people actually send nude pictures to there friends. Even if they promise you that they won't send it to anyone else. You never know. They could. So if that one person sends it to someone else and then someone else. It could get around the whole school. So you should never send or Post ANYTHING that you wouldn't want anyone else to see!

    1. Why would anyone even make a nude ...?

  4. Nobody should even send nudes. But if you do, just be aware that the person you sent it too, could send it to everyone, or post it online. You should be posting anything that your don't want your grandma to see. If you do send nudes, it could lead to cyber bullying or someone threatening you. When you are looking for a job, they can see what you have been doing on social media and it will be hard to find a job. Never in your life, should you send nudes.

  5. Being a good citizen online is ideal the avoid conflict. Posting something on internet is something that can't be erased. Anyone in the world can see it. If it's exposed to the wrong people you could be tracked down. Things like sexting can create conflict if accessed by the wrong people, you could be bullied, which could lead to depression, followed by self-harm or suicide, your job applications will be ignored and you'll be an infamous online citizen. All of this can ruin your life or someone else's. Being an good citizen online is key to avoid any conflict between others online, and in the real world. One post, and your exposed to everyone you know or even don't know. It's important to be safe and to watch what you do.

  6. A good digital citizen means not doing anything rude or inappropriate with social media. No sexting, no cyberbullying, nothing. Nobody should send a nude picture, they will seriously regret it. It's something that will never be forgotten. People will spread the word about it. Things will only get uglier and uglier. Same thing for cyberbullying. The person you bully may get really upset and start thinking about bad things, like suicide. Suicide is something that the bully will feel guilty about forever. If the police are involved, that may lead to certain huge consequences. Anything that is posted to social media can be seen by anyone in the world. To make things clear, be a good digital citizen.

  7. Being a good digital citizen means to use the internet for social media in a responsible way that means not to use it for cyber-bullying,no sexting etc.. meaning don't use it to make fun of someone or for inappropriate usage.The meme I created was about posting inappropriate videos or photos on the internet people shouldn't do it because it could spread to a bunch of more people and those people could share even more and they would make fun of you and other stuff.

  8. A good digital citizen respects others and is mature. I believe nobody should be sending nude pictures, as it is something that will stay on the internet for others to find. Anyone can find it and once it's found it'll stream from others back to you. Blackmail can occur from an anonymous user or your friend and it's a sucker punch to the face when dealing with this problem. To make matters you can't trace peoples address if being socially abused unless you obtain their IP but that won't happen. In other words not much help you can do to help yourself out from your own problem, so be a good digital citizen.

  9. being a good digital citizen means to not text/share any thing inappropriate or hurtful to other people. an example for something hurtful would be cyberbullying. cyberbullying is very hurtful because it makes the person feel depressed. this is one of the reasons people commit suicide. an example of something inappropriate would be sexting. a reason not to sext is in some cases according to the Canadian government sexting may be illegal. it is illegal if a person under 18 sends a nude photo. the reason is it is considered as child pornography, witch is illegal in ALL provinces and territories in canada. if an adult sends a nude photo to to an adult WITHOUT their permission it is considered as sexual harassment. but sending nude photos can result in the person receiving it sending to the public

  11. Bullying someone online is such a hurtful thing to do. Why would you even want to do it in the 1st place. Not only online but also in person. I've heard that some people do it because it has been done to them but if it felt horrible to you, then why would you wanna put someone else through it also? This can really hurt somebody and if it's been going on for a while and has been really bad it can even lead to suicide or depression! Do you really want that to happen to someone? We all need to be aware of what we are saying to people and how they would react to it.

  12. Being a good digital citizen means being respectful on the internet and not being hurtful and innapropriate, this includes cyberbullying. Unfortunately too many people get hurtful comments directed at them for absolutely no reason. Too many people are affected by cyberbullying and resort to extreme actions, some people end up belieiving some of these hurtful things and resortto hurting themseleves or suicide. If you see someone getting hateful comments online report the bully. Too many people are victimized, no one wants hurtful things told to them everyday.

  13. Cyber bullying is a terrible thing. Some people send pictures of themselves nude and it is a terrible thing because the person that you send the picture to, they can forward it to someone or even post it online. You should always be 100% sure of what you want to post. Bullying and cyber bullying can cause suicide. If you have nothing nice to say to someone, don't say anything. To be a good digital citizen, you need to not post anything inappropriate and not post anything that will mentally or physically hurt someone.

  14. A good digital citizen would not be disrepectful and not hurt the other persons feelings by criticizing someones work that they are very proud until someone puts negative comments on their video or picture. When someone post negative comments the people who make the videos or pictures will stop posting them because they will not be proud of posting videos or pictures because they will all ways get negative feed back

  15. People should worry about what they post online, even if you are anonymous! Some people think if no one knows who they are they can post, and comment what ever they want, because no one can see who they are! my meme is about a "computer troll" this troll doesn't care what he say's and posts because he believes no body knows him. You should always care, and be careful with what you say online and post. If you think no one knows you because you are anonymous, you are WRONG !

  16. First of all no one should even be sending nudes in my eyes there dumb and gross but if you do send them just be careful who your sending it to because you never know what the girl or the guy is going to do with that photo because he or she might send it to everyone or just put it online you should be posting this you want your family seeing. If you do send nudes it could be bullying or someone threatening you to do something for them. That picture will always be online if your going to look for a job and they search you up that might pop up and you probably will not that job.I just would not of nudes it is just a bad thing to do.

  17. People should be very careful what they post online. If you send a nude or anything like that to only one person, you are taking the risk of it being on the internet and everyone would see it. That person might think it's so cool that they got a nude so they would send it to a friend and and then somehow, it would end up on the internet. Cyber bullying is a terrible thing. You might think it's so funny but what if you were in that person's shoes. You would be so sad and maybe think of suicide. Think before you do something. Even if you say it once, other people would her and continue bullying her.

  18. A lot of people aren't very good digital citizens, they send inappropriate pictures and messages, that cannot be erased. It's very terrible that people do this but im not sure they understand the domino affect of their ''digital footprints''. People arent aware of their digital footprints and think that everything inappropriate is allowed but those people are not very nice and respectful digital citizens.
